Here are some of the comments received in round one of the voting (alphabetically by title):

Bobby Fischer: The Career and Complete Games of the American World Chess Champion - It has been great to see hundreds of Fischer games objectively analysed!

Bullet Chess - I hope and pray that Bullet Chess doesn't win or I'll shoot myself. If it does, it will be one more strike against deliberate thought in the modern world, proving that action for action sake is the name of the game.

Chess Instructor 2009 - I hope to goodness they keep to their plan and produce a 2010 version.

Chess Strategy for Club Players - I vote for this book as Nimzovitch has effectively been replaced by a much better and educational text.

Grandmaster Repertoire: 1.d4, Volume 1 - This is no ordinary opening book. It’s the best I’ve seen in years.

Grandmaster Repertoire 3: The English Opening, Vol. 1 - Outstanding prose, lucid explanations, new ideas and practical experience from a GM! Another gem from Marin.

How to Play Against 1 e4 - It's a great repertoire book on the French Defense. ... His writing style is excellent, and he provides plenty of tips on how to play the resulting middle and endgames, not just giving a bunch of opening moves with a resulting evaluation at the end of the line.

Revolutionize Your Chess - The best book I ever read.

Understanding Chess Endgames - Good structure, accessible commentary, probably faultless analysis – and the start of JN’s second trilogy on the endgame.

Win with the Stonewall Dutch - An opening book that provides lines, explanations, examples and sidelines that is presented in a sequential, easy to learn style ... how all opening books should be written!

Zuke 'Em - The best book in years.
