Draw

1.Re1/i Bxd5+ 2.Kf2!/ii Qh8/iii 3.e7 Bf7 4.d5/iv Qxh7 5.Rg1!/v
Kd7!/vi 6.e8Q+!/vii Kxe8 7.Rg7/viii Qh8 8.Rg1 Qf8 9.Bg7 Qg8/ix
10.Ba1!/x Qh7/xi 11.Rg7 positional draw. The study's theme is the
reversal of a rook-bishop battery. It finds its expression in the
perpetual harassment of the black queen.

i) We'll understand this at (iv).
ii) Better than 2.Kh2? Qe8, when the white king will suffer.
iii) Recognising the draw after Qe8 3.e7, for if then Qxh5 4.Re2!
iv) On the e1 square the rook defends the bishop. 4.e8Q? Bxe8
5.Rxe8 Qxh7!
v) The long-range artillery opens up.
vi) Here I come! White is all right also after any of the following:
f4 6.e8Q Bxe8 7.Rg7+ Qxg7 8.Bxg7, or Kb6 6.e8Q Bxe8 7.Rg7
Qh8 8.Rb7+ Kxb7 9.Bxh8, or Bxh5 6.Rg7, or Be8 6.Rg7 Qh8
7.Rg1.
vii) Haste is penalised: 6.Rg7? Qh8, and Black wins.
viii) Now that Black's king is on e8, this move is good and strong.
ix) Qe7 10.Re1.
x) We must analyse the thematic try 10.Bc3!? It is met by: Qh7!
11.Rg7 Qh8 12.Rg3 Qf8 13.Bg7 f4! and Black wins. White has no
more success with 10.Bf6? Qh7 11.Rg7 Qh8 12.Rxf7 Qg8.
xi) Bg6 11.hxg6 Qxd5 12.g7 Qg8 13.Bc3.
